5 Secrets To Continuing Success

Develop these attributes of a successful person and always remember to keep your integrity intact and you will find yourself continuing to move even more quickly towards the attainment of your goals!

1. Thick Skin:  you cannot allow yourself to be easily offended or hurt if you want to be successful. There will always be people who are jealous, envious and out to put someone else down. You must develop a way to see beyond that and let it slip away, like “water off a duck’s back” because if you are going to be successful, you are likely to receive your fair share of criticism. Best be prepared for it.

2. Obedience:  whilst we know we are addressing adults rather than children, it is important to realize that in order to be a leader, you must first be prepared to become a follower and learn how to obey the leader.  You must first learn the principle of loyalty to a leader if you ultimately want to lead others.

Once you have fully learned how to obey and follow directions, you are in a better position to lead others and more fully understand what orders do for both an organization and an individual.  Did you know that over 150 of the CEOs of Fortune 500 companies are former US Marines, and 27 US Presidents served in the military.

3. Courage:  bravery alone is not courage, but you cannot have courage without being brave.  Courage is the moral fortitude to stand up for your character and to do the right thing - even in the face of adversity.

When you have courage, you’ll follow through on your vision. Only those who are truly courageous will get the most out of life. Only when you truly have the courage of your convictions, will you find the inner strength to implement your plan.

4. Intolerance:  not exactly a quality that you would normally associate with success, however whilst we must be tolerant with people and many other things we must also not tolerate such things as abuse, injustice, unethical behaviour and immoral or illegal actions. Remember, it’s OK to be intolerant, of the right things!

5. Sense of Humour:  if you don’t have a sense of humour, you will fall flat on your face and again never reach the success that you say you want. A good portion of the road we journey along towards success is blocked by obstacles.  If you meet one and get way laid, you must have the ability to laugh at the both situation and yourself. If you don’t, you’ll end up angry and bitter about your misfortune and never get past it. Laugh at yourself and what you encounter and you’ll find your trip to the top is quicker and more enjoyable than you ever thought it could be.
