With Success, You'll Never Walk Alone
Quote Of The Day
|
|
"Always Begin with the
end in mind."
Stephen Covey |
As
you set off along your road to success, you’ll very
quickly begin to understand that you are really
never alone. Once you consciously know what you are
looking for, you will soon discover a ton of
resources available to provide you with all the
inspiration, strength and knowledge that you
require. All you have to do is just to recognize
what you need and actually take advantage of the
solutions that you come up with. Often, you may have
to search a little to find the answers and sometimes
even invest some time (and money) in discovering the
best way to implement your solutions, but you’ll
soon discover that it’s way easier than learning
everything by trial and error yourself!
You
will also discover that building a team is
incredibly important as you progress along your
path. Whilst you aim to reap the benefits of your
success you will soon discover that you will not
achieve success on your own. The fallacy of the
“self-made man” is just that—a fallacy because
everyone is influenced directly and indirectly by a
wide variety of people. For example let’s consider
a few of those involved:
-
Our Parents: If they were around to raise you,
they will undoubtedly have had the greatest
influence on your life. Our core characteristics
are established very early in our lives and are
hugely shaped by the way our parents behave
around and towards us. And as we grow up and
start to make our own decisions, our character
further develops in accordance with how our
parents react to those decisions.
-
Our Teachers: The chances are that if
you were asked to, you could immediately recall
the name of one of your old school teachers who
made a significant impression upon. Whether that
impression was positive or negative is
irrelevant, but what matters is that we realize
that our teachers also significantly mold us and
shape our character. Sometimes people rebel
against the negative example that they feel a
teacher gave them; but more often than not, our
decisions are shaped by the positive influence
that our teachers have had on us.
-
Our Friends: Generally, the happiest and most
successful people often have a wide variety of
friends from many different walks of life. We
choose our friends because in some way we feel
an inextricable bond with them because they make
us feel good by making us laugh, encouraging and
supporting us and allowing us to feel a part of
their life. However, you should remember that,
unlike our family, we get to choose our friends
and therefore actually have some control over
the type of person by whom we will be
influenced.
-
Mentors: Individuals who truly desire
to achieve a high level of success for
themselves will often research and then decide
upon a suitable mentor to act as their guide in
their pursuit of success. Mentors are usually
people who have already walked the same path and
have recorded the various pitfalls and obstacles
they encountered along the way along with how
they got around the problem so that their
students are not held back by the same problems.
In this day and age, it is not unusual for
somebody to select a mentor who they never
actually meet because the information they
require is available in the form of a book or
audio program. However, the information and
experiences of our mentors is invaluable and
should be put into practice.
-
Spiritual Leaders: Ministers, priests,
rabbis, pastors, etc., also play a very
important part in shaping the beliefs and values
that we carry forward in our lives. Their
ability to see beyond circumstances and share
the bigger picture of life and light is
unparalleled. Having a spiritual guide that you
can talk to won’t guarantee that you’ll never
feel despair, but it will ensure that you don’t
have to go endure your dark times alone.
And
in the same way that you will build your own team as
you work towards your success, you will find that
you can also be part of someone else’s team as
well. By being a friend to someone else who is just
starting out on their road to success, by
encouraging and (if appropriate) mentoring them, you
will discover many of the answers you are seeking to
help move yourself forward. Make a commitment to
yourself and your team-mates to be there for them
when they need you and by doing the right thing,
always maintaining your integrity and having empathy
and compassion in all that you do, you will build as
well as become part of a hugely successful team.!
